What will be your first attraction? Banner and photo
We’ll start with the first thing a visitor to your LinkedIn profile sees – the banner. If it catches their eye, there’s a good chance they’ll scroll further. But what should appear in it? In general, we recommend including your company logo or an illustrative photo of what you specialize in. Real photographs of your practice will also serve as a good banner. In fact, they often attract more attention than general photos from photo banks.
If we’re talking about a profile photo, it has to look professional. Photographs from the working environment are original. For example, are you in the restaurant business? Let the photographer take a picture in your business. You’ll look authentic and people on LinkedIn will be more likely to engage with you.

The section in which the most frequent mistakes are made. Meet the motto
The most important finding for this section is: A motto is not a space for a quote. Despite the fact that on many Czech profiles you can find various personal credos or motivational quotes, this is a misunderstanding of the meaning of this section. What we know from the Czech translation of LinkedIn as “motto” in the English original is “Headline text” i.e. “Headline”. This is where you state what you help your customers with and then your job title in the company. Let’s take an example from practice:

This headline belongs to our leader David Kolář. As you can see, you don’t have to be afraid to use emoji, the headline will make it stand out among the others. Also fill in your email address, phone number and website link below the caption. This makes it easy for potential clients to contact you in literally a few clicks.
Clearly, concisely and engagingly: we write down information about me
You have undoubtedly intrigued the users who have made it this far. They will therefore be happy to read basic information about you. Most often they will be interested in your career path and the achievements you have made. So summarise your story clearly and concisely. It is important to select only the essentials and to avoid errors that hinder the readability of the text. Avoid:
- In a complex sentence
- To long sentences
- Extensive paragraphs
- Too many emoji
- To repetitive words
- Irrelevant information

These two categories are closely related. We recommend that you start by filling the positions. If you want to make your LinkedIn profile even clearer and more engaging, fill in only the most interesting jobs or projects you’ve worked on. Briefly and in bullet points, list what your job entailed, what software you worked with, and what you took away from the job or project.
Once you’ve filled in the job roles, move on to the skills. Think about what skills you have used for each position and assign them to each position. This section is very important because the employer or client can validate each of the skills. This will make your profile appear more credible and LinkedIn’s search engine will act on the skills. They can therefore also help you significantly with SEO optimization.

LinkedIn is such an “interactive CV”, and therefore we cannot forget the “education” section.We recommend our clients to add the highest achievements, similar to a classic CV. However, you can take advantage of the hyperlinks here and insert the web address of the high school or university you studied at. Similar to the “Job Positions” section, we recommend writing in bullet points what this education has given you and how you can apply this knowledge to your practice. Don’t forget to mention any school projects or trips you have taken part in.
