So many versions of one social network? Here’s a quick overview for a quick understanding

The three versions of LinkedIn differ mainly in the number of features the social network offers. Deciding between these versions depends on your needs – whether you need a basic profile, want to strengthen your personal brand or are looking for an active tool for lead generation and sales. Before we look at the recommendations of each version and their features, let’s briefly introduce each version:

  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator is a specialized tool for salespeople that provides advanced prospecting and targeting capabilities to generate leads and business opportunities
  • Free LinkedIn is good for basic networking and job searching
  • LinkedIn Premium offers more features for individuals and professionals looking to enhance their career and networking opportunities

What features can you count on?

You can access your regular LinkedIn account immediately after signing up. You will mainly use it to:

  • Creating a personal profile and building a network of contacts
  • Search and connect with other users

  • Send messages to contacts only in your network
  • Restricted access to search results and profiles outside your network

The free version of LinkedIn only gives you access to a limited number of new contacts

  • Individuals looking for work. If you’re just getting started with your job search, the free version offers plenty of options for networking and job searching.
  • Users building a professional network. Even with the basic version of LinkedIn, you can create a professional network very effectively.
  • Professionals who don’t need advanced features. If you only use LinkedIn occasionally, to keep in touch with colleagues and clients or to passively follow industry trends and news.

LinkedIn Premium

What features can you count on?

LinkedIn Premium is the first paid version we’ll introduce. With this version, you have access to premium features, as well as enhanced features from the non-paid version of LinkedIn. Key features include:

  • View more information about people who have viewed your profile up to 90 days in the past
  • Ability to send messages (called InMail messages) to people who are not in your contact network (number varies by Premium version)
  • Expanded access to search results and the ability to see more profiles.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning – a wide range of online courses to improve your skills.
  • Detailed statistics and information on job offers compared to other applicants.

LinkedIn Premium offers more detailed statistics on your profile

LinkedIn Sales Navigator

What features can you count on?

The latest version of LinkedIn is a dedicated tool for salespeople called Sales Navigator. Its key features include:

  • Advanced search options with over 20 filters to target specific leads and companies.
  • The ability to store leads and accounts, track their activity and get updates on leads.
  • More InMail messages than LinkedIn Premium
  • Ability to track and manage leads directly in Sales Navigator and connect to your CRM system.
  • “TeamLink” function for expanding the sales network through collaboration with colleagues.

Use Sales Navigator’s precise filters to easily reach your target audience

Who do we recommend this version of LinkedIn for?

Sales Navigator provides specialized tools for finding and reaching potential customers. This makes the sales process and the acquisition of new business partners or long-term customers easier and faster. Thus, this version will be the most used by:

  • Salespeople and marketers who will find it easier to find new customers with Sales Manager. Generating leads is important in these professions and active use of LinkedIn is key to social selling.
  • Companies and teams in sales. Reaching out to potential clients and the option of advanced search filters will greatly help companies and teams in reaching out to potential clients. Sales Navigator can also be linked to an internal CRM system.

LinkedIn Premium and Sales Navigator trial

LinkedIn Premium

In this case, the trial period is free for 1 month after entering your payment details. This offer is valid for trying all LinkedIn Premium versions such as Career, Business, Sales and Hiring. During the trial period, you will get access to all the features of that Premium version.

LinkedIn Sales Navigator

This is the same as for LinkedIn Premium. Once you enter your payment details, you get all the features Sales Navigator offers for 1 month – Access to advanced prospecting, lead management and more InMail messages.

Tip: Don’t forget to set a reminder at the end of the trial period. If you don’t plan to use the version for a long time, this will avoid unnecessary costs.

How can you give notice and what can you expect?

It is important to note at the start of the procedure that you can only cancel your subscription via a web browser. You won’t find the subscription tab in the mobile app. Below you will find the complete procedure on how to cancel linkedIn premium

  1. Sign in on LinkedIn
  2. Open your account settings and click on your profile photo in the top right corner
  3. Select “Settings and Privacy” from the menu
  4. Go to “Subscriptions and Payments”
  5. Find the subscription you want to cancel(LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator) and click “Manage Subscriptions”
  6. Click the “Cancel Subscription” button and follow the on-screen instructions
  7. Upon cancellation, you will receive a confirmation email and your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period

What is important to know?

If you cancel your subscription during the free trial period, you will not be charged any fees. However, you will lose access to premium features immediately. You will also permanently lose access to older conversations in Sales Navigator.
